Regular Season Round 8: Svitavy - J.Hradec 89-71

Bottom-ranked BK Lions Hradec (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-71 loss to eighth ranked Basketbal Svitavy (4-4) in Svitavy. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Pavel Slezak (186-84) who scored that evening 22 points and international swingman Simon Pursl (203-97, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Basketbal Svitavy players scored in double figures. Even 10 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Cameron Jones (193-93, college: Radford) did not help to save the game for BK Lions Hradec. British center Chris Tawiah (207-93, college: Wiley) added 13 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Basketbal Svitavy moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Usti n/Labem and BK Olomoucko. BK Lions Hradec at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Basketbal Svitavy's next round opponent will be NH Ostrava (#9) on the road. BK Lions Hradec will play against USK Praha and hopes to get finally their first victory.
