Bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven (0-6) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Lukoil Acad. (4-1) 105-78 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Lukoil Acad. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 38. They outrebounded Spartak Pleven 43-17 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lukoil Acad. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Keith Clanton (205-90, college: Cent.Florida) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international Pavlin Ivanov (195-93, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Lukoil Acad.'s coach Sharon Drucker felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) who recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and guard Gerasim Nikolov (188-93) added 14 points respectively. Five Lukoil Acad. and four Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Lukoil Acad. have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Loser Spartak Pleven still closes the standings with six games lost. Lukoil Acad.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena .
