Regular Season Round 9: Speyer - Langen 102-55

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Speyer. Second ranked Speyer faced 3rd placed TV Langen. Host Speyer (7-1) smashed guests from Langen (5-3) 102-55. Speyer dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to TV Langen's 30. Speyer forced 21 TV Langen turnovers and outrebounded them 39-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Jordan Rezendes (188, college: Mass.-Dartmouth) stepped up and scored 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Spanish center Eduard Arques (202-94) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Nick Smith (203-95, college: Belmont) with 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Chris Reinhardt (202-88) scored 9 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Speyer. They maintain second place in South-West with 7-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Muenster. Loser TV Langen dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Stuttgart and Saarlouis/Dillingen. Speyer will meet Lich II (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. TV Langen will play against Tuebingen II (#3) and hope to secure a win.
