Very predictable result when seventh ranked Karlsruhe PS (6-3) beat on the road 14th ranked Nuernberg (2-7) 69-65. They outrebounded Nuernberg 47-32 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Nuernberg helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Center Maurice Pluskota (208-92) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso, agency: SportsVision-Service) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Mardracus Wade (188-91, college: Arkansas) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Nuernberg in the defeat. Nuernberg's coach Ralph Junge let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Karlsruhe PS. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hanau. Nuernberg at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Karlsruhe PS's next round opponent will be league's leader Crailsheim Merlins at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nuernberg will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#7) and hope to win that game.
