Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Manama: Al-Manama (#2) and Al-Bahrain (#11). Al-Bahrain was smashed at home by 28 points 52-80. Al-Manama dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Bahrain's 26. They outrebounded Al-Bahrain 48-29 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maitham Jameel fired 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Merrill Holden (203-93, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and Jalal Akbar added 10 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al-Manama (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row behind leader Al-Ahli. Al-Bahrain lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with seven games lost. Al-Manama's next round opponent will be Al-Muharraq (#4) in Al Muharraq. Al-Bahrain will play on the road against Isa Town (#10) in Issa Town and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
