Regular Season Round 2: Al Rayyan - Al Ahli 97-81

The biggest surprise of round 2 in D1 took place in Doha where host Al Rayyan (1-1) beat Al Ahli (1-1) 97-81 on Wednesday evening. Al Rayyan looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Sherwood Brown (193-91, college: FGCU) who scored 30 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. The other American import forward Phillip Flowers (198) chipped in a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian center Nemanja Besovic (221-92) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds and Serbian-FYR Macedonian forward Nenad Zivcevic (203-87, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Al Ahli will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Al Rayyan will try to continue on its current victory against Al Wakrah on the road.
