Regular Season Round 9: Basket Kosice - GBA Sparta 66-69

Important game to mention about took place in Kosice. Ninth ranked GBA Sparta (2-6) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging second-best Basket Kosice (7-3) 69-66 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Basket Kosice. GBA Sparta made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Basket Kosice was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Marek Welsch (180-99) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners and Slovakian guard Milan Janosov (192-99) chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Jan Lycka (186-93) with 18 points and forward Jan Kratochvil (200-82) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. GBA Sparta moved-up to eighth place in West, which they share with Sokol Prazky. Basket Kosice at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. GBA Sparta will play against higher ranked BK Loko Plzen (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Basket Kosice will play against Sokol Zizkov and hopes to get back on the winning track.
