Regular Season Round 7: Samara-2 - Unics-2 86-63

The biggest surprise took place in Samara where host Samara-2 (7-3) crushed league's leader Unics-2 (9-2) 86-63 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Unics-2. Samara-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Unics-2's 32. Samara-2 forced 22 Unics-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including 17 on the offensive glass. Center Dmitriy Khaldeyev (208-99) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Agasiy Tonoyan (202-98) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Samara-2 players scored in double figures. Igor Sizikov (-99) produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Sergey Krivykh (182-98) added 9 points, 7 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Samara-2 maintains fourth place with 7-3 record. Unics-2 at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Lokomotiv-2. Unics-2 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Samara-2 will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Enisey-2 in Krasnoyarsk.
