Regular Season Round 8: Czarni - Stelmet 70-79

Very expected game in Slupsk where 14th ranked Czarni (3-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Stelmet (6-3) 79-70. Czarni was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 43-29 second half run of Stelmet. The winners were led by Montenegrin power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) who scored that evening 19 points and the former international forward Jaroslaw Mokros (200-90) supported him with 15 points. Stelmet's coach Artur Gronek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by American guard Dominic Artis (192-93, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Czarni. His fellow American import guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) added 6 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stelmet have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 6-3 record. Czarni lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with seven games lost. Stelmet's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Legia (#17) in Warszawa which should be an easy win for them. Czarni will play at home against Polpharma and hope to win that game.
