Regular Season Round 9: Snaefell - Breidablik 103-99

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Breidablik (6-2) against fifth ranked Snaefell (5-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Breidablik was defeated by Snaefell in a tough game in Stykkisholmur 99-103. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Breidablik. Strangely Breidablik outrebounded Snaefell 38-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Breidablik's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Christian Covile (193-93, college: Adrian) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Sveinn Davidsson (192-86) chipped in 23 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Halldor Halldorsson (186-89) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Snaefell and five Breidablik players scored in double figures. Snaefell moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hamar. Loser Breidablik keeps the second position with two games lost. Snaefell will meet at home higher ranked Vestri (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Breidablik will play against Gnupverjar in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
