Regular Season Round 11: Schwabing - Jena II 86-95

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Jena II (1-9) won against on the road higher ranked Schwabing (4-6) 95-86 on Saturday. Jena II looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Schwabing was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Konrad Glueck (187-95) contributed with 15 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Jena II players scored in double figures. American swingman Nathan Gibbs (203-89, college: Westmont) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and William Bessoir (203-99) added 18 points in the effort for Schwabing. Schwabing's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jena II left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place in South-East, which they share with Zwickau. Loser Schwabing keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Jena II will face GGZ Baskets (#14) in Zwickau in the next round.
