Regular Season Round 9: Shumen - Beroe-2 107-67

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Beroe-2 (3-4) against sixth ranked Shumen (2-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Beroe-2 was crushed by Shumen in Shumen 107-67. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Beroe-2's 36. Shumen forced 21 Beroe-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 48-14 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Beroe-2's players. The best player for the winners was swingman Anton Dikov (191-94) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Yanko Yankov (198-88) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. Four Shumen players scored in double figures. Shumen's coach zvonko Papak felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Nikolay Titkov (184-98) who recorded 29 points and 5 assists and swingman Martin Radnev (192-89) added 13 points respectively. Shumen maintains sixth place in A with 2-5 record. Newly promoted Beroe-2 dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Shumen will meet at home higher ranked Chernomorets (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beroe-2 will play against Dolphin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
