Regular Season Round 7: Homenetmen - Champville 110-77

Round 7 in Pepsi LBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Beirut where host Homenetmen (6-1) crushed league's leader Champville (6-1) 110-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Champville. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Homenetmen dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Champville's 42. Homenetmen had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Champville's players. Tunisian Makram Ben-Romdhane (204-89) fired 30 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Naturalized Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Homenetmen players scored in double figures. The former international forward Fadi El-Khatib (198-79) produced 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: De Paul, agency: Two Points) added 20 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Homenetmen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Al Riyadi and Champville. Champville will play next round against Beirut Club trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Homenetmen will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Al Moutahed in Tripoli.
