Rather expected game when 6th ranked German ratiopharm Ulm (2-5) was defeated at home by fourth ranked French ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (4-3) 94-84 on Wednesday. ratiopharm Ulm was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 30-18 charge of ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 59.4 percentage. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for point guard John Roberson (180-88, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 assists. Center Darryl Watkins (211-84, college: Syracuse, agency: Inception Sports) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket keeps a position of Group D leader, which they share with 3 other teams. ratiopharm Ulm lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth place with five games lost. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will face league's second-placed Zenit in Saint Petersburg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ratiopharm Ulm will play on the road against the league's leader Gran Canaria (#1) in Las Palmas and hope to win that game.
