Regular Season Round 13: Guangdong ST - Shanxi BD 124-98

Everything went according to plan in Dongguan where fifth ranked Guandong Tigers (10-3) outscored 15th ranked Brave Dragons (3-10) 124-98 on Thursday. They outrebounded Brave Dragons 58-32 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Canadian Andrew Nicholson (206-89, college: St.Bonaventure) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds for the winners and the former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) chipped in 31 points and 14 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Brandon Jennings (185-89) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Brave Dragons lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Guandong Tigers will face Fly Dragons (#14) in Beijing in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Brave Dragons will play at home against Blue Whales and hope to win that game.
