Bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Monday night. This time they edged sixth-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv 82-80. Hapoel Tel-Aviv was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of Maccabi Ashdod, which allowed them to win the game. American power forward David Laury (206-90, college: Iona) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) accounted for 20 points. American Tony Gaffney (206-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 14 points and 5 rebounds and the former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Maccabi Ashdod (3-6) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Hapoel Eilat and Ironi Nes-Ziona. Loser Hapoel Tel-Aviv keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Maccabi Rishon and Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi Ashdod will meet Hapoel Eilat (#10) on the road in the next round.
