The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Spanish Gran Canaria as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group D. Gran Canaria defeated 6th ranked German ratiopharm Ulm in Las Palmas 97-84. ratiopharm Ulm was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 33-18 charge of Gran Canaria, which allowed them to win the game. They made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Gran Canaria forced 19 ratiopharm Ulm turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by ratiopharm Ulm helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Swedish swingman Marcus Eriksson (201-93) who scored 26 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American DJ Seeley (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Gran Canaria's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Joseph Lewis (188-92, college: Louisville) produced 28 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import Luke Harangody (202-88, college: Notre Dame) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Gran Canaria and four ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with ASVEL. ratiopharm Ulm lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with six games lost. ratiopharm Ulm will play next round against strong Zenit trying to get back on the winning streak. Gran Canaria will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Dolomiti En. TR in Trento.
