Regular Season Round 13: Shanghai - Jiangsu 58-72

The game between second ranked Shanghai Dahua (9-4) and seventh ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (7-6) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Shanghai Dahua was defeated by Jiangsu Phoenix in Shanghai 72-58. Jiangsu Phoenix outrebounded Shanghai Dahua 46-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. Forward Jiayin Jiang (183-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and Chen-Yan Xu chipped in 15 points and 15 rebounds. Four Jiangsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Breanna Stewart (193-94, college: Connecticut) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Jing Huang (183-85) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Shanghai Dahua's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Heilongjiang. Shanghai Dahua at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Shanxi XR and Xinjiang. Jiangsu Phoenix is looking forward to face higher ranked Xinjiang (#4) in Urumqi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shanghai Dahua will play at home against Whale and is hoping to win this game.
