Nineteenth-ranked Blue Whales (2-14) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Beijing Ducks (11-5) in Sichuan. The visitors from Beijing managed to secure only two-point victory 98-96. However their fans expected much easier game. Beijing Ducks had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Croatian-American center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU) who scored that evening 24 points and 9 rebounds and international guard Shuo Fang (188-90) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Beijing Ducks players scored in double figures. Even 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) by American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) did not help to save the game for Blue Whales. Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) added 26 points and 15 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Beijing Ducks have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 11-5 record, which they share with Guangdong ST and Shenzhen L. Blue Whales lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth place with 14 games lost. Beijing Ducks will play against Xinjiang Flying Tige (#8) in Urumqi in the next round. Blue Whales will play on the road against Sturgeons (#14) in Jinjiang and hope to get back on the winning track.
