Very predictable result when second ranked BK Opava (10-3) smashed at home 8th ranked NH Ostrava (5-7) 111-78 on Saturday. BK Opava dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to NH Ostrava's 38 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. BK Opava looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. NH Ostrava was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Radim Klecka (189-90) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and center Vaclav Bujnoch (200-93, college: Des Moines Area CC) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. BK Opava's coach Petr Czudek felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American power forward Russell Woods (203-94, college: Missouri, agency: Mansfield and Associates) responded with 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Petr Bohacik (205-85) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for BK Opava. They maintain second place with 10-3 record having just one point less than leader CEZ Nymburk. NH Ostrava lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. BK Opava will face Basketbal Svitavy (#4) on the road in the next round. NH Ostrava will play against BK Pardubice (#3) and hope to win that game.
