Regular Season Round 9: PAOK - AEK 86-65
Date: December 16, 2017
The game in Thessaloniki supposed to be also quite interesting. 5th ranked AEK (5-4) played at the court of sixth ranked PAOK (6-3). PAOK smashed AEK 86-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by PAOK. AEK was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Phil Goss (188-83, college: Drexel) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. Linos-Spyridon Chrysikopoulos (206-92) chipped in 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four PAOK players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Vasileios Kavvadas (204-91) who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and international Dusan Sakota (210-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for PAOK. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Lavrio and Promitheas. Loser AEK dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. PAOK will face Lavrio (#4) on the road in the next round. AEK will play against G.Larissa-Faros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
