Regular Season Round 10: Rilski - Academic Sofia 76-93

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Samokov. Second ranked Lukoil Acad. faced much higher ranked Rilski. Guests from Sofia (6-1) defeated host Rilski (6-3) 93-76. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Rilski. The game was mostly controlled by Lukoil Acad.. Rilski was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lukoil Acad. shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Asen Velikov (187-86) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Hristo Nikolov (200-85, agency: 011 Sports) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Lukoil Acad. players scored in double figures. American point guard Derek Wright (179-86, college: Austin Peay St.) replied with 17 points and 5 steals and his fellow American import forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) added 14 points in the effort for Rilski. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lukoil Acad. have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 6-1 record behind leader Levski 2014. Rilski at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Akademik PL. Lukoil Acad. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rilski will play on the road against Cherno More (#7) in Varna and hopes to get back on the winning track.
