Regular Season Round 4: Hong Kong ELL - Singapore S. 82-79

Fourth-ranked Singapore Slingers (3-4) were very close to win a game against top-ranked Hong Kong ELL (7-0) on Wednesday. Hong Kong ELL managed to secure only three-point victory 82-79. However their fans expected easier game. Hong Kong ELL forced 21 Singapore Slingers turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hong Kong ELL made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Filipino-German forward Christian Standhardinger (206-89, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists and Canadian power forward Ryan Wright (206-87, college: Oklahoma) added 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Singapore Slingers. Four Hong Kong ELL and five Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. Hong Kong ELL have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Singapore Slingers at the other side keep the fourth place with four games lost. Hong Kong ELL are looking forward to face Saigon Heat (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Singapore Slingers will play against Alab Pilipinas in Manila and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
