The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls' (2-22) home loss to fifth ranked Aomori Watts (7-17) 61-89 on Wednesday. Aomori Watts outrebounded Iwate Big Bulls 51-33 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Jalen McGaughy (208, college: Dillard) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aomori Watts maintains fifth place with 7-17 record. Iwate Big Bulls lost seventeenth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 22 games lost. Aomori Watts will face higher ranked Kanazawa Sam. (#3) in Ishikawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Iwate Big Bulls will play at home against Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
