Regular Season Round 15: Challans - Aubenas 78-64

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Aubenas (5-10) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Vendee Challans (8-7) 78-64 on Saturday. It was a great evening for point guard Paul Turpin (190-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. American center Deshawn Painter (205-90, college: ODU) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Moss (201-93, college: Buffalo) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Larry Williams (191-86, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vendee Challans moved-up to seventh place, which they share with La Charite. Loser Aubenas keeps the fourteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Vendee Challans will meet higher ranked Rueil (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aubenas will play against Saint-Quentin (#3) and hope to secure a win.
