No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Mykolaiv (8-6) beat at home bottom-ranked Zaporizhye (2-13) 87-72. Mykolaiv made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Mykolaiv outrebounded Zaporizhye 49-38 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for center Oleksandr Kushnirov (210-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The former international forward Olexiy Onufriyev (202-82) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Oleksii Shchepkin (191-89) with 27 points and 5 rebounds and guard Stanislav Ovdeyenko (190-84, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Zaporizhye's coach Valeriy Plehanov rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mykolaiv moved-up to third place. Zaporizhye at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 13 games lost. They share it with Politekhnik. Mykolaiv will play against Cherkasy (#4) at home in the next round. Zaporizhye will play against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
