Regular Season Round 15: Fenerbahce - Real Madrid 77-79

Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Eighth ranked Spanish Real Madrid (9-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (9-6) 79-77 in the fight for the fifth place. It looked good early as Fenerbahce took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Real Madrid had a 27-19 second period charge getting the lead and Fenerbahce was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-79. Real Madrid made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Fenerbahce was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Felipe Reyes (204-80) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Brad Wanamaker (193-89, college: Pittsburgh) answered with 20 points and 5 steals and the other American import swingman James Nunnally (201-90, college: UCSB) added 11 points in the effort for Fenerbahce. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Real Madrid. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Fenerbahce. Real Madrid will play against Maccabi T-A (#7) in Tel-Aviv in the next round. Fenerbahce will play at home against Baskonia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
