Regular Season Round 14: Nevezis - Siauliai 72-79

Not a big story in a game in Kedainiai where 10th ranked Nevezis (4-14) was defeated by eighth ranked Siauliai (6-11) 79-72 on Thursday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nevezis won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 34. The best player for the winners was forward Donatas Sabeckis (197-92) who scored 15 points and 7 assists. Power forward Arminas Urbutis (206-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and forward Gabas Maldunas (206-93, college: Dartmouth) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Siauliai and four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Siauliai moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Nevezis lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Siauliai will meet league's second-placed Neptunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nevezis will play against the league's leader Zalgiris (#1) in Kaunas and hope to secure a win.
