Not a big story in a game in Dongguan where 11th ranked Sharks (10-12) were defeated by fifth ranked Guandong Tigers (16-6) 104-97 on Friday. The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and French Edwin Jackson (190-89, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 29 points during the contest. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) responded with 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and his fellow American import Nick Minnerath (207-88, college: Detroit Mercy) scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Sharks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Guandong Tigers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Sharks dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Guandong Tigers will face bottom-ranked Blue Whales (#20) in Sichuan in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sharks will play on the road against Brave Dragons (#14) in Taiyuan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
