Regular Season Round 25: Libertadores - Mineros 94-103

Date: December 29, 2017
No shocking result in a game in Queretaro where second ranked Mineros (16-7) defeated bottom-ranked Libertadores (5-18) 103-94 on Friday. Mineros looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: KMG Sports Management) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Marcus Fillyaw (185-94, college: Ky Wesleyan, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Four Mineros players scored in double figures. Mineros' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Travis Gabbidon (201-86, college: UTSA) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Dominican-Puerto Rican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) scored 29 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Mineros. Newly promoted Mineros maintains second place with 16-7 record behind leader Fuerza Regia, which they share with Soles. Libertadores lost their seventh game in a row. Libertadores at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Mineros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Libertadores will play again against the league's second-placed Mineros (#2) and hope to secure a win.
