Regular Season Round 29: Aomori Watts - Sendai 89ers 86-88

Fifth-ranked Aomori Watts (8-20) made lots of trouble for third ranked Sendai 89ers (13-15). The visitors from Sendai managed to secure only two-point victory 88-86. However their fans expected easier game. Sendai 89ers had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. South Sudanese-American forward Angelo Chol (206-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for Aomori Watts. Four Sendai 89ers and five Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sendai 89ers maintains third place with 13-15 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH, which they share with Yamagata. Aomori Watts lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 20 games lost. Sendai 89ers will play against Yamagata (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aomori Watts will play against Tokyo Z and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
