The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al-Manama as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al-Manama smashed 11th ranked Hidd at home 117-50. Al-Manama dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hidd's 28. Al-Manama forced 27 Hidd turnovers and outrebounded them 54-34 including a 43-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Hidd's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al-Manama made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Ali Shakeeb (177-97) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Al-Manama players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Troy Jones (201-92, college: Tex.A&M-Kingsv.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and Hussain Lulu added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al-Manama (14-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Hidd dropped to the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Hidd will play next round against Sitra trying to get back on the winning streak. Al-Manama will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Al-Ittihad. It will be extra interesting game as Al-Ittihad is their local rival from Manama.
