There was no surprise when 15th ranked Brave Dragons (9-15) lost to tenth ranked Fly Dragons (13-11) in Beijing 138-144 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Fly Dragons shot 42 for 59 from the free-throw line, while Brave Dragons only scored eighteen points from the stripe. Brave Dragons were plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma) added 29 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Brave Dragons. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Fly Dragons have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position with 13-11 record, which they share with Guangzhou LL. Loser Brave Dragons keep the fifteenth place with 15 games lost. Fly Dragons will face Sharks (#13) in Shanghai in the next round. Brave Dragons will play on the road against Beijing Ducks and hope to win that game.
