Townsville held off Sydney in the semifinal series opener. Townsville Fire held Sydney Uni Flames to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Townsville Fire had a 42-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-80) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. The former international center Cayla George (192-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international Belinda Snell (180-81) answered with 11 points and 8 rebounds and American center Jennifer Hamson (201-92, college: BYU, agency: LBM Management) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Sydney Uni Flames. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
