Regular Season Round 11: Promitheas - AEK 69-66

The most exciting game of round 11 in the A1 took place in Patras. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked AEK (6-5) to fifth ranked Promitheas (7-4) 69-66 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 20-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Promitheas made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. International point guard Nikos Gikas (186-91, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists. Four Promitheas players scored in double figures. American swingman Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Promitheas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK. AEK at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Promitheas is looking forward to face higher ranked Lavrio (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AEK's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.
