Regular Season Round 12: Psychiko - Karditsas 72-68

There was no surprise in Athens where 13th ranked Karditsas (2-10) was defeated by ninth ranked Psychiko (7-5) 72-68. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-10. But Karditsas won second period 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Psychiko made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Karditsas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) who scored that evening 22 points and 9 assists and naturalized American swingman Nicholas Paulos (201-92, college: NC-Greensboro) supported him with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Even 13 points by Serbian center Stefan Djordjevic (206-89) did not help to save the game for Karditsas. Point guard Giorgos Trihopoulos (184-87) added 15 points and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Psychiko moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ermis Agias. Karditsas lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with ten games lost. Psychiko's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Papagou.
