Regular Season Round 12: Minas - Mogi 65-82

Leader Mogi delivered the tenth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Minas (6-4) 82-65 in Belo Horizonte. They outrebounded Minas 42-26 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mogi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) who added 22 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard George-Yeye Torres (188-91) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists and forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mogi maintains first position with 10-2 record. Loser Minas dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Mogi will meet Flamengo (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Minas will play against Universo/Vitoria in Salvador and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
