Very important is a road loss of third ranked Akademik Sofia (8-5) against fourth ranked Shumen (5-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Akademik Sofia was defeated by Shumen in Shumen 85-68. Shumen outrebounded Akademik Sofia 51-29 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Akademik Sofia's players. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Andrey Ivanov (206-96) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Anton Dikov (191-94) accounted for 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Five Shumen players scored in double figures. Center Tsvetomir Chernokozhev (206-0) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Krasimir Dimitrov (195-98) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Akademik Sofia in the defeat. Shumen maintains fourth place with 5-6 record. Akademik Sofia at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Shumen will again play against higher ranked Akademik Sofia (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akademik Sofia will have a break next round.
