Regular Season Round 13: Hottur - IR 74-90
Date: January 7, 2018
Bottom-ranked Hottur (0-13) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to third ranked IR (10-3) 90-74. Hottur was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Hottur was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Ryan Taylor (196-92, college: Marshall) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (183-94, college: Columbus St.) accounted for 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five IR players scored in double figures. American guard Kelvin Lewis (195-88, college: Houston) came up with 29 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Mirko Virijevic (201-81, college: Freed-Hardeman, agency: Athleadz) added 17 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Hottur in the defeat. Hottur's coach Vidar Hafsteinsson rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for IR. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Haukar and KR. Hottur lost their thirteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 13 games lost. IR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik KR.
