Regular Season Round 16: Civitanova - Fabriano 83-78

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Civitanova (9-7) defeated at home 14th ranked Fabriano (5-11) 83-78 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Fabriano was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for forward Riccardo Coviello (195-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Alessandro Cassese (186-97) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Valerio Marsili (204-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Fabrizio Gialloreto (187-87) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Fabriano. Four Fabriano players scored in double figures. Fabriano's coach Daniele Aniello tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Civitanova moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with Faenza and Forli Tigers. Fabriano at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Civitanova will face Bisceglie (#6) on the road in the next round. Fabriano will play against Ortona (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
