Regular Season Round 26: Xinjiang FT - Shanghai S. 123-116
Date: January 9, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Urumqi where 13th ranked Sharks (12-14) were defeated by ninth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (16-10) 123-116 on Tuesday. Xinjiang Flying Tige looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Xinjiang Flying Tige made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American-Bulgarian point guard Darius Adams (188-89, college: Indianapolis, agency: Dutt Sports Services) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 11 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Brazilian center Augusto Lima (207-91) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) produced 50 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import Nick Minnerath (207-88, college: Detroit Mercy) added 28 points respectively for the guests. Sharks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Zhejiang GB and Shenzhen L. Loser Sharks keep the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will face bottom-ranked Bayi Rockets (#20) in Ningbo in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sharks will play at home against Beijing Ducks (#6) and hope to win that game.
