Regular Season Round 16: Czarni - Asseco 82-73

There was an upset when higher ranked Asseco (9-8) lost to fourteenth ranked Czarni (5-13) in Slupsk 73-82 on Wednesday. Asseco was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Asseco was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 18 rebounds and 11 assists. The former international Piotr Stelmach (205-84, college: Mississippi St., agency: BeoExcell) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-95) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Jakub Garbacz (197-94) added 15 points in the effort for Asseco. Four Czarni and five Asseco players scored in double figures. Asseco's coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Czarni went down to fifteenth position due to points difference. Loser Asseco dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. Czarni will face higher ranked Start (#10) in Lublin in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
