Regular Season Round 17: Yamanashi QB - Mitsubishi K. 51-72

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (10-7) crushed on the road 11th ranked Yamanashi QB (2-15) 72-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. Yamanashi QB was better in fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi K. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Yamanashi QB's 34. Mitsubishi K. forced 19 Yamanashi QB turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Yamanashi QB's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mitsubishi K. made 9 blocks. The former international center Risa Nishioka (184-97) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Chika Sakuragi (179-91) contributed with 4 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Forward Saki Iijima (172-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Miki Huzii (168-87) added 11 points and 5 steals in the effort for Yamanashi QB. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mitsubishi K. maintains sixth place with 10-7 record. Yamanashi QB lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Mitsubishi K. will have a break next round.
