Regular Season Round 16: Vechta II - Stade 89-95

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Vechta-2 (9-5) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Stade (8-6) 95-89 on Saturday. Spanish power forward Oscar Andres (200-87) fired 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Janis Stielow (193-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Stade's coach Paul Larysz used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Robert Crawford (201-90, college: Cent.Arkansas) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Croatian center Neven Zeravica (205-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Stade and four Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. Stade moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with Rendsburg. Loser Vechta-2 dropped to the third position with five games lost. Stade will face league's second-placed Neustadt TSV on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vechta-2 will play against Aschersleben and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
