Regular Season Round 19: Cartagena - Aldaia 58-69

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Cartagena (5-7) was defeated at home by bottom-ranked Aldaia (4-8) 69-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aldaia. Cartagena was better in fourth quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aldaia forced 23 Cartagena turnovers. Strangely Cartagena outrebounded Aldaia 42-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Diego Belarte who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points. Carlos Hortelano helped adding 15 points. Aldaia's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-94, college: Lander) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted Aldaia maintains tenth place in Group E with 4-8 record. Loser Cartagena dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Aldaia will face higher ranked L Alfas (#6) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
