There was no surprise in Kuala Lumpur where 9th ranked Taiwanese Formosa D. (1-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Malaysian Westports MD (2-4) 84-74 on Sunday. Westports MD outrebounded Formosa D. 57-45 including a 24-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Marcus Marshall (190-94, college: Nevada) scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center AJ West (206-91, college: Nevada) chipped in 21 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Salvadorean-American center Ronnie Aguilar (216-87, college: CS Dominguez H.) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds and American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Formosa D.'s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Westports MD maintains seventh position with 2-4 record. Formosa D. lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. Westports MD will meet at home higher ranked Singapore Slingers (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Formosa D. will play against Saigon Heat (#5) and hope to win that game.
