Very important is a home loss of second ranked Thailand Mono Vampire (6-4) against sixth ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas (4-4) on Sunday night. Host Mono Vampire was crushed by Alab Pilipinas in Bangkok 114-87. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Mono Vampire. Alab Pilipinas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Mono Vampire's 44. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Mono Vampire's players. Alab Pilipinas brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a good game for American forward Justin Brownlee (197-88, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. American-Filipino guard Bobby-Ray Parks (193-93, college: High School) contributed with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Alab Pilipinas players scored in double figures. American forward Michael Singletary (198-88, college: Texas Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Maltese center Samuel Deguara (223-91) added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Mono Vampire. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alab Pilipinas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 4-4 record. Defending Thailand champion Mono Vampire keeps the second place with four games lost. Alab Pilipinas will play against CLS Knights (#8) in Surabaya in the next round. Mono Vampire will play on the road against Saigon Heat (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
