Regular Season Round 16: UCC Demons - Maree 124-99

Very expected game when 11th ranked Maree (4-11) was smashed by sixth ranked UCC Demons (8-6) in Cork 124-99 on Sunday. UCC Demons dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Maree's 44 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. UCC Demons shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when UCC Demons made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Adrian OSullivan (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Lehmon Colbert (198-88, college: Jacksonville) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winners. American forward Corey Hammell (198-94, college: Alaska-Anch.) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Eoin Rockall (185-98) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 16 assists in the effort for Maree. Five UCC Demons and four Maree players scored in double figures. UCC Demons maintains sixth position with 8-6 record. Loser Maree keeps the eleventh place with 11 games lost. UCC Demons will face higher ranked Templeogue (#5) in Dublin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maree will play at home against the league's leader UCD Marian (#1) and hope to win that game.
