Everything could happen in Rethymno at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Cretan Kings and 8th ranked Aris had identical 5-6 record. This time Cretan Kings used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Thessaloniki 80-73 on Sunday night. Aris was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 27-18 charge of Cretan Kings, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Shaquille Goodwin (206-94, college: Memphis) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Malcolm Armstead (187-89, college: Wichita St.) who added 13 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Cretan Kings players scored in double figures. Cretan Kings' coach Nikos Vetoulas used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Eleftherios Bochoridis (193-94) with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Panagiotis Vasilopoulos (202-84) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Cretan Kings have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with AEK and Kolossos HH. Loser Aris dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Kymis. Cretan Kings will meet bottom-ranked Panionios (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aris will play against Kolossos HH (#6) and hope to secure a win.
