Regular Season Round 7: TTT Riga - Astana Tigers 88-42

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Latvian TTT Riga as it allowed them to take a leadership position. TTT Riga smashed 13th ranked Kazakhstan Astana Tigers at home 88-42. The game without a history. TTT Riga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Astana Tigers to just 5 points in first quarter. Strangely Astana Tigers outrebounded TTT Riga 39-0 including a 29- advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (181-80, college: Siena) fired a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Guard Liene Priede (180-90, college: Missouri, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Four TTT Riga players scored in double figures. Center Nadezhda Kondrakova (190-89) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and forward Zalina Kurazova (188-85) added 8 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending Kazakhstan champion Astana Tigers dropped to the fifteenth place with six games lost. They share the position with Canik Belediye.
